An unfolding journey that travels through a gorgeous landscape of shimmering trombones, ambient electronics, unsettling noises and finally welcoming fingerpicked guitar. Stitched together with Carlson's resplendent singing, "Shakes/The Noise of Wings" is an expansive, spiritual pair of suites that in its own way wouldn't sound out of place on an early 70's King Crimson record, or if an imaginary gospel group ate a tub of LSD and holed up in the studio with Brian Eno.
